Chomp

I just realized it's September tomorrow. And since I'm going to be quite occupied with schooling this will be my grand finale. I suppose I may find a way to continue the photoblog theme somehow. I've enjoyed it very much. Looking for a photo every day was interesting and sometimes difficult. Good times and lots of pictures.

Hallways

((Late post for August 30)) One of the hallways I am getting more familiar with at the elementary school. This is the end of the hall with the first grades. Most of the hallways don't have the floor to ceiling tiled walls.

Kindergarten

Here are two pictures of kindergarten classrooms at the school I'll be interning at. The first is in one half of the old gym and the second is a regular classroom. Some classrooms have really old worn desks & chairs while some have newer furniture. Tomorrow is my first official day.

This time last year

This time last year we were all gathered at Dave's grandfather's house. He lives in a woodsy part of CT which is where I snapped this picture. There were giant dead viney branches hanging about.

The reason for the old picture is my rechargable batteries or my charger have kicked the bucket, so my camera doesn't work.

Feeding time

I've switched the cats from a free feeder back to their proper serving a day. Onyx is just getting so tubby. This picture is of the two of them just after I refilled the bowls. A moment before they were both eating but then Kes became aware that Onyx was so close. This is a rare moment.

Straw

We went out to dinner tonight. I played with the paper cover for the straw and folded it up neatly. I remembered I hadn't taken a picture for the day yet so this is it. Straw paper art.

UB

Here's the student center at UB. I never actually went in this building, I just happened to walk by in my rush to get lots of last minute stuff done.

Factory

Nearly everyday I drive past this old factory. I know some of it is open space for rent and I believe there is some activity in there. I'm glad that it isn't very run down like other factories in the area of which there are many.

VW

I'll have to try and get a better picture of this Volkswagen. Each panel is a different color. It reminds me of a Rubix cube. I'm sure one of the other interns at the orientation drives it. It was there yesterday too. This picture just doesn't do it justice.

Yeehaw!

Today is August 21st and classes start at Uni of Bridgeport on August 27th. I'll be there.

Yup, I got into grad school 6 days before it starts. Not only that, but I'll be doing the internship which will pay for my classes. Yup, all I have to pay is books & gas. I got the call today, first "no, wait til spring", half an hour later "there's a spot for you". Yup, yup, yup, I'm still reeling.

Peekaboo

Onyx has found a new perch on the side of my desk. I took this picture myself by hand- no self timer. The first picture was funnier because I made a wide eyed face but it was very blurry. This works though.

Busy Saturday

First there was a birthday party for Dave's niece & brother. This is the fancy cake made by his sister. Sadly I did not get to enjoy it because I went to the Wolcott Fair. Second we have April feeding the camel a hot dog bun. Apparently the camel thought her finger was bun too. Third, we have Janet doing one of her animal tent jobs- carrying sheep to their sheering. The poor girl was peed on by that sheep after it's first ever sheering. So yeah, busy Saturday. I know I'm late with it but I was pooped yesterday & there are no pictures today.

Rainbows

I have rainbow toilet paper, do you? I noticed the rainbow and it went perfectly to the end of the tp. Then later I discovered more rainbows and reflections off our crystal chandelier in the front entrance. Have I mentioned that we get great sunlight all day, especially in the late afternoon?

Thank you,
Kim

Yawn

I know I promised that I wouldn't post too many cat pictures. But life is slow since I'm home alone all day and still unemployed. Dave and I have been playing a card game, Spit, and I brought out the felt poker table cloth. I left it out after the last game and I knew Kes would find it to be a nice spot. So I wasn't surprised to find her on it holding onto the deck of cards. There was also a really cute picture but I thought I'd go for silly.

Picasa

This is a post to make up for yesterday. It's twice the same picture but one that I messed around with in Picasa. I had some fun with it. I was excited to get this shot.

Outside

We played in the yard today; Pyromaniacs. We burned some old dried sticks. It was around5:30pm and we get a great view of the afternoon sun. I noticed our strong silhouettes so I decided to take some silhouette portraits.

Hauling & playtime

I'm having some problems with Blogger & Picasa working together. I was going to post yesterday but the photos weren't loading. Then tonight I had to acquaint myself with Blogger's photo tools which didn't go smoothly either.

Anyways, today we received a china cabinet from Dave's parents' coffee shop. They closed the shop a while ago and we had intended to bring this into the dining room for a couple months. So today we finally did it. I put the cats in there for a giggle- my live cat collection. Hehe.

Later we went to Petco to get some food with a mystery discount coupon that only the associate could scratch off. It was revealed to be 30% off so we bought a new string toy and a couple rolly balls with bells. Here's Onyx enjoying the string toy which was actually intended for Kes. They can share.

Miracles

Today was Miracle Treat Day at participating Dairy Queens. All proceeds from Blizzards went to the Children's Miracle Network. I bought Blizzards for Janet, Dave & myself. Here is a picture of myself & Janet munching on our Blizzards.
Then we took a field trip to Jay-Mar in near by. It's a craft store tucked in the back of an industrial building. There are craft items there from 15 years ago! The second picture is of Friendly Plastic, something I worked with in 6th grade art class at AIS (1993). I'm sure I still have the little baggie with some of my Friendly Plastic artwork at my parents' house.

Splat

Kes likes to sleep like this with her chin on the floor. She looks so strange when she does, almost like she doesn't feel well. She wasn't very happy with me when I took the picture.

Rainforest Cafe

Dave and I went to the Rainforest Cafe at the Westfarms Mall. This was completely unplanned, we just happened to take a peek in the store. Dave asked if there was a wait and after they answered 'None' he asked to be seated. I ordered a Mai Tai(or something or other) in a fancy cup that has LEDs in the bottom that flash. Of course the whole shebang cost $12 which included the cup. So I had my lunch beverage in the cup today. I'll get a video of it at some point. It's quite mezmerizing.

Summer party

The swell summer party was hosted by Janet on Friday Aug 3. I ment to post then but I've been slacking. April's bounce house was a big hit; it's great to be a big kid. Check out my video of the party.
A bounce house is twice as fun in the dark with a lot of people.

Shutterfly

(Late entry for Aug 4)
I'm a member of Catster.com. They partnered with Shutterfly to give away a 20 page 8.5x11" photobook. I designed and ordered my book Monday and received it on Friday. It's awesome. I paid S&H which was $7. The book is usually $23 which I think it totally worth it anyways. Here is Kes reading about herself.
This second picture was taken with my new phone. The camera isn't too bad. I need to get a mini SD card so I can transfer the pictures directly instead of sending them to my online photo album.
