Waiting for the Train

It's hard being a hobo in Second Life. Here I am waiting for a train that will never arrive.

RainbowS

We were leaving the mall and were greeted by a rainstorm when we got to the parking lot. The wonderful rain+sunshine equation made for two beautiful rainbows.

This also makes for a nice segway to a video I stumbled upon on YouTube: Rainbow Water

Timber

Our neighbor had a tree removed that was taller than his 2 story house. The tree was probably about 30 or more years old. It was very interesting to watch them remove the tree. I took a ton of photos and videos of it coming down piece by piece and will probably spend some time putting it together in a little video.

Playing Ketchup

Ok, so it's been a while and I'm a slacker. First off we have Kes and Jip En Janneke flags. I'm working on a submission for Stuff on My Cat and I think I have it here. This is only one in the series- I built a whole flag perimeter around her.

The next photo is the tower at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, CT. This was a great hike and a great three story tower as a reward.

Next we have a toad and a frog that I came upon during our hike to the tower.

Sleeping Giant State Park was the site of a quarry and the next photo is the 'ruins' of the buildings that once stood here. It's hard to figure out what the purpose was of some of the buildings because there isn't much left.

Roaming in Rome, GA

My family and I took a day trip to Rome, GA. At the visitor center there was a giant drill press type thing for drilling the hole into a cannon. The first photo is a giant gear. The photo doesn't show that the gear was over 5 feet in diameter. The teeth are about an inch and half in thickness.

The second photo was a pretty tree in the area. The branches on this type of tree always attract my eye.

Cat eyes

Rusty's eyes are perfect for the wire cat.

Success

The neighborhood geese have a white goose as their leader. He has taken a mate that is a Canada goose. They unsuccessfully tried to start a family a couple years ago but I see that they were successful this time around; there are 3 'children.' Awe.

My family and I went on a tour of a historical home in Atlanta. Behind me is the Swan House. During the tour I realized that it is younger than my home in Ct. It was built in 1928 while my home is built in 1923. This puts a new perspective on my house- it could be a museum!

White Cats

While at a rest stop in Virginia I spotted these two white cats. They were quite the cuddly couple. They seem like they have been dumped there although they were rather skittish.

Pretty & a cat

The butterfly joined me on a bench at a rest stop in Pennsylvania. It just sat next to me for a bit and I took about 8 photos, this being the best. It looks tired.

Rusty decided to file himself amoung the realestate books.

Still catching up

I was trying to take an action shot while still getting good details. Check out Kes's tongue.

Beach time

A couple days ago some friends and I went to a local pond for a swim and visit to the beach. It was a lovely day.

The shortage of photos is due to some upsets in my life that I am now working on while I visit my family. I will definitely continue posting to my photo-journal as I am going to seek out photography as a way to view my world from a different perspective.

Mount Tom

A visit to Mount Tom in Litchfield was a nice way to spend the day. Here are two pictures from the hike. I think a photo tally category is showing itself: nature.

The Zoo

A friend and I made an impromptu trip to a small zoo in the area.

Crochet in the round

Today I finally figured out how to crochet in a circle. I used scrap yarn for the first circle so I didn't have enough to go around. Now my duck is sporting a nice pink bonnet.

Fireworks

No photo for today so I have two photos from yesterday. What would the fourth of July be without fireworks?

Reuse

Reduce, reuse, recycle. After watching a Power Point presentation about those pesky plastic bags I finally decided to try crocheting with plastic bags. It was a fun process of making the 'plarn' and then crocheting it. I didn't use a pattern and it worked out quite nicely I must say. I have yet to use it officially. Tomorrow I'm going to use it to bring some things to the 4th of July gathering.

Spills and thrills

We went out to dinner and Dave accidentally spilled the soy sauce in a perfect teapot shape.

This is a photograph I took the other day at the park. After I ran it through a couple different filters these 3 critters showed up. ;)

First entry of 2008

This photo is from yesterday but I just had to share it. This little mushroom was just over an inch tall. Too cute.

Today's explorations in photography included the cat, as usual. She was sitting on my desk keeping me company and I just had to take a couple pictures. I love this one.
